Kevin was first registered as a practising solicitor in England and Wales in 1991 and was last registered in 2017 with the SRA (Solicitors Regulation Authority).

Kevin has chosen his new business not to be regulated and therefore is no longer registered as a practising solicitor, but there are no impediments preventing him from being registered.

Not being registered means that Kevin is not permitted to carry out “reserved legal activities” (defined in Section 12 and Schedule 2 of the Legal Services Act 2007 England and Wales) which essentially means advocacy in court, conveyancing and wills and probate.

In addition, he is not permitted to indicate, or imply, or give the impression that he is currently registered as a practising solicitor. Practising solicitors are bound by certain rules, for example on handling client money and dealing with complaints.

In common with most professional businesses, K J Mutch Consultancy Ltd is insured for professional negligence.
